So I worked on engine fitment some more today. I really was dreading the idea of having to engineer a new brake system. So much so that I was debating just buying a tilton pedal box and rocking out. Yeah waste more money, that's the ticket *roll eyes*. Thankfully after fully deleting the PS system it looks like the motor and gearbox will fit in conjunction with the current brake system. Which is a huge plus in my book.


All these PS lines are now gone, I can add PS back in if I route them differently but for now I'm just going to pack the rack with grease and rock out. I did this on my 944 and it worked fine... granted it went lock to lock so much less frequently.


Sway bar is a bit to close to the oil filter so I'm going to have to remote mount it, which also isn't a big deal as I was going to put an adapter block on for my oil cooler setup anyway.


Looking down the driver's side of the motor. I don't have the time or want to go custom headers right now so I'm going to stick to some tubular shorties rather than full long tubes. No quite so cool, but should deal with my space constraints for now. Plus way easier to put twins on later


I'm still working on exactly how much of the bell housing to machine away. Spent some time chalking the input shaft and installing the trans on the VK to figure out exactly where it is sitting right now. Tomorrow I'll play with clutch fitment and the spare VQ35 sitting in my garage to figure out the exact measurement. Should HOPEFULLY get the bell housing machined this week for final fitment.



Just about exactly where the motor is going to sit. It's more of a front/mid setup now than it used to be, it's also very low (going to need a hefty skid plate). The VQ used to sit higher, and further forward (timing covers on the VK are further back than the front two cylinders on the VQ used to be).

Car goes to paint next Monday so I'm HOPING we can get the motor mounts built before then, but it kinda all hinges on the bell housing for now.
